Fresh Couture was inspired by Nathan’s formative years growing up in the vibrant north eastern city of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2013.
Part of a style conscience youth movement that loved to dress well; seeing his friends and peers in their sports-wear staples by days and also upscaling their urban style for the nights on the town.
Next, whilst playing competitive Rugby League Nathan had several hours at home each day where clothing design and manufacture captured his imagination. He was able to gain an education about Yoke, Box Plate and Neck Drop from his mother who was a seamstress.
Together they took on the rise of pocket t-shirts and later athleisure to offer the youthful cohorts of the Newcastle a focused brand alternative fuelled with exciting concepts that was taking on the best in the industry.
In 2016 the next chapter began when Jamie Howey joined Nathan and the brand began its epic rise in sports-contemporary fashion.
Fresh Couture is about the mixing of ideas; understanding sporting heritage and context underpinned by contemporary needs and aesthetics.
As a brand we aim to champion skilled, small-scale production where we can. We produce garments in the right place, both in the UK and overseas, working only with factories we trust, admire and are proud to be associated with.
The company also gives us an opportunity to collaborate with amazing people from artists to writers and anyone in between, a process that inspires continual growth and education.
After initially selling to ten retailers, this has scaled to over 50. We feel very humbled by the rise of the brand and have gained a substantial following. We are now stocked from Newcastle, to the UAE and across to Australia.
We are happy and proud to be an independent, small company, always approaching our work with excitement and dedication.
